Flos shines once again

Flos stands out once again at the prestigious ADI awards, thanks to Michael Anastassiades’ Arrangements and the Castiglioni brothers’s Arco

The future of light is backed by almost 60 years of history: since its foundation, the Italian lighting design company Flos has produced iconic products that, over time, were able to change the Italian and foreign markets. All of this with a secret weapon: its constant ability to innovate.

This year has been no exception and Flos still leaves its mark by winning two times at the XXCI Compasso d’Oro ADI, the most important award of Italian design. The brilliant Cypriot-born designer Michael Anastassiades once again demonstrates his incredible talent and takes home the award for Arrangements, his innovative, poetic and modular collection, which the international jury called “A dance of minimalism, geometry, and technology, able to beautifully interpret the LEDs and to transform them into emotion.”.

Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, received instead the The Product Lifetime Achievement Award for the Arco lamp, conceived as early as 1962, still timeless and a symbol of Italian design. The jury defined it “a stylistic innovation in the lighting sector that over time became an icon for Italian design around the world.”

Then again, Flos is not new to the ADI awards. Among the numerous victorious products throughout its history, we remember Parentesi by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù, awarded in 1979, May Day by Konstantin Grcic (2001) and, more recently, the technological and minimal OK (2016) by Grcic.
